Welcome from the Head Teacher
Welcome to the Edron Academy page of our recruitment partner's website. I hope that the information provided here will entice you into completing an application form and that you will come and join the wonderful Edron community.
I am very proud to be the Headteacher of the first school in Mexico, and the second in Latin America, to be fully accredited members of COBIS (Council of British International Schools). We were invited to accept this level of membership following a successful inspection by the UK´s Independent School´s Inspectorate (ISA) in September 2014. The inspection report has given us a blueprint for development in the coming years...
Founded in 1963, Edron Academy is a leading well-established, non-profit, international school in Mexico City. The School is proud to be bilingual and bicultural with over 1,000 students from age 2-18, mainly Mexican, the rest representing over 14 other nationalities. It is highly successful in providing an excellent international and stimulating-bilingual education. The School fulfills their aims and develops internationally-minded citizens who succeed in achieving high academic and personal standards.
Students follow the English National Curriculum (including EYFS), IGCSE courses from Cambridge University, the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the Mexican National Curriculum.
In total, there are over 230 staff with a roughly 60/40 split between Mexican and British teachers. A large section of teaching staff are Mexican teachers who teach the Mexican Curriculum.
ABOUT THE COUNTRY
Mexico lies between the United States of America to the North, and Guatemala and Belize to the Southeast. Its extensive coastlines include the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea to the East and the Pacific Ocean to the West. Mexico is blessed with warm and friendly people, unique food, art and archeology, pyramids, museums and Haciendas. With 6,000 miles of shoreline, superb architecture and 21st century cities, the weather varies from snowy mountains in the Sierras, to rainy jungles in the Southeast and desert in the Northwest. There are many golf courses throughout the country, excellent fishing, and some of the world's top destinations like Acapulco, Cancun, Cozumel, Los Cabos, and Patzcuaro. Mexico is ranked 7th major destination for foreign visitors, according to WTO.
